New Beers this Week

Bell's Brewery is one of my personal favorites as far as American craft beer goes. They usually don't do anything too outlandish, but mostly stick to traditional styles and do them very well. Each beer, even the ones that come in 6 packs, are refermented in the bottle and unpasteurized to preserve flavor. We've been carrying their beers for a while now and this week we have two new ones (or at least new to this area).

First is the Bell's Hop Slam, a Double India Pale Ale. That one's for the Hop Heads. This beer is super-fresh (it was bottled about two weeks ago), so you should get it quickly before the hoppy flavors begin to dissipate. Taste this one beside Dogfish Head's 90 minute IPA and compare.

Next is Bell's Consecrator, a Doppelbock style beer. Doppelbock (or Double Bock) is a type of strong, dark German lager. Taste this one next to Victory Brewing Company's St. Victorious Doppelbock (out in a couple of weeks) and see which one is better.
